Hey y'all!
Do you have a pet? Here they have a horse and 3 guinea pigs. Another name for guinea pigs is cavies because in the wild they like live in caves. Here are some fun facts about guinea pigs:
-They are really social. (That means they like to hang out with friend.)
-They originally came from in the Andes, South America.
-Guinea pigs DO have tail vertebrae, but they do not have a tail.
-Guinea pigs are born with open eyes and fur.
-They are called pups and they will start to drink from mother’s milk immediately.
-They are able to walk or run within three hours and start to eat on their own a bit each day.
-Female guinea pigs are called sow.
-Male guinea pigs are called boar.
-If a guinea pig is in the stretching-out position, it means she/he is being very relaxing.
-If a guinea pig is jumping straight up and down then it means she/he is “popcorning”. It shows that she/he is very happy or excited over things.
-If you hear a guinea pig saying wheek, which it is very rare. You may hear once in 8 years. When you hear it and it means the guinea pig is very, very, very, very happy.
-Guinea pigs have thirteen distinct sounds to communicate each other.
-Guinea pigs have several different coat species. It makes them more unique.
-Guinea pig’s life span is 5-8 years.
-The oldest guinea pig ever lived is fifteen years. It has been on the Guinness world record. It’s so amazing to know that a guinea pig can live up to 15 years.
