A visit to the Doctors

Sometimes Noah has to go see different doctors because of his Trisomy 8. Today we got to see a Orthotist. That is a doctor who fits people for leg braces. When Noah was just a little baby he had to have braces on his legs called AFOs. He wore them all the time. They didnt hurt him and they were very cool. His first pair were tiny. They had stop signs and dogs and cars on them. Then he outgrew them. So he had to go back to the doctor and get a new pair. This pair was blue camo! Very cool.

After wearing them for several months Noah's physical therapist said he didnt need them anymore. Now though he is having some trouble with his left leg so they said to his mama they better head back to the doctor.

When we first went in there was a little table to play at. It was fun. I was playing with Noah, AJ and Sarie.

We didnt have to wait long before the nurse told us to come on back. I was a little scared. I didnt know what was going to happen, but Noah wasnt worried at all. We went into a small exam room and the doctor sat us all down. Mr Paul and Miss Ashlee joked about how the family was so big we couldnt fit in that tiny room. The doctor then had Miss Ashlee roll up Noah's pants and let him run around to see what exactly the problem was.

After that the doctor got into his cupboard and got out a big sock and put it on Noah. He reached in another cupboard and got out a roll of something. He started wrapping Noah's leg. Noah didnt mind at all. The roll was turning into a cast! It got harder and harder and the doctor moved Noah's leg just how he wanted it. Then he cut the cast off!!!

The whole thing took maybe 5 minutes! It was super fast. The doctor said it was good it was fast because some kids arent as good as Noah and they kick and scream.

Then the whole family got to pick out what the brace looks like. He just needs one on his left leg. They are huge football fans. Their favorite team is the Steelers. SO they picked black with gold straps and they will put Steeler stickers on it!! They have to go back to the doctor in a few weeks to pick up the brace. I can't wait!!! I am learning so much here.

Have a great day!!
