More adventures!

Sorry I havent had time to write lately. The family I am staying with is very busy getting ready for another child. While Paul and Ashlee were away learning about how to care for a new child I got to go spend 3 days with some awesome people! The kids and I went to stay with a family who has 7 kids! Yep 7! And they are adopting 2 more kids!

We had so much fin we didnt even think to take any pictures. Bummer! I hope we get to spend more time with them before I go back to Florida. One little girl there named Reagan sometimes uses a wheel chair. She said her legs don't work, but that didn't stop her from playing! 4 other kids there have down syndrome and one is deaf. So I got to learn sign language to talk to him! All the kids were super fun. We played on a swing they had in their house and they even had a ball pit! Then one day we all wore our PJs and had a movie day. It was so much fun. I learned that even though some of the kids appeared different we were all the same. We are all kids! We all love to do kid things! I have never had such fun!

Today we are all getting back into the swing of things after our busy week last week. We thought it would be really fun to make chocolate covered pretzels. Oh they were so yummy! I had a lot of fun making them too.

First Miss Ashlee got all the ingredients we needed.

Pretzel Sticks
Semi sweet chocolate chips
wax paper
bowl
spoon

Next we dumped a bunch of chocolate chips in the bowl and stuck it in the microwave on 60% for 2 minutes.

When the microwave beeped the bowl was very hot so Miss Ashlee said she better get it. She very carefully stirred the chocolate with a spoon.

Then she used the spoon to put the chocolate on the pretzels and set them on the wax paper to dry.

After that they are good to eat! Yum!

Hope y'all are having a great week!!!

Let's Go Fly A Kite!

Today was such a nice day. It was very warm so we all packed up the car and headed to the park. While we were at the park Ms. Ashlee spread the blanket out and got all the food out. Mr. Paul got the kites out of the packages and set them up. It was so much fun flying kites and eating lots of yummy things outside. Take a look!

Do you like flying kites? What kind of kite do you have?

Have a blessed day!!

Cookies!!!!

Today we got to make cookies!!! They let me help too!

It was a lot of work but fun.
I hope they turn out like the picture on the box. What do you think?

We put the mix in a bowl

Added the ingredients like oil and eggs.

Ohhh! Looks like it is turning into something! I wanna lick the spoon!!!

This is powdered sugar. I got it on my head when I fell in!

We rolled the dough up into a ball and rolled it around in the powdered sugar. Then Mr Paul put it on a cookie sheet and cooked them in the oven.

Look how good! I would send you some but we ate them all!!!! They tasted like brownies, so so good!

We had a great time baking and eating these cookies. Do you ever bake cookies with your mom or dad? What is your favorite cookie? I think this might be my favorite, but Ms. Ashlee says I have to try her pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Sounds Yummy!!

Have a great day!

A visit to the Doctors

Sometimes Noah has to go see different doctors because of his Trisomy 8. Today we got to see a Orthotist. That is a doctor who fits people for leg braces. When Noah was just a little baby he had to have braces on his legs called AFOs. He wore them all the time. They didnt hurt him and they were very cool. His first pair were tiny. They had stop signs and dogs and cars on them. Then he outgrew them. So he had to go back to the doctor and get a new pair. This pair was blue camo! Very cool.

After wearing them for several months Noah's physical therapist said he didnt need them anymore. Now though he is having some trouble with his left leg so they said to his mama they better head back to the doctor.

When we first went in there was a little table to play at. It was fun. I was playing with Noah, AJ and Sarie.

We didnt have to wait long before the nurse told us to come on back. I was a little scared. I didnt know what was going to happen, but Noah wasnt worried at all. We went into a small exam room and the doctor sat us all down. Mr Paul and Miss Ashlee joked about how the family was so big we couldnt fit in that tiny room. The doctor then had Miss Ashlee roll up Noah's pants and let him run around to see what exactly the problem was.

After that the doctor got into his cupboard and got out a big sock and put it on Noah. He reached in another cupboard and got out a roll of something. He started wrapping Noah's leg. Noah didnt mind at all. The roll was turning into a cast! It got harder and harder and the doctor moved Noah's leg just how he wanted it. Then he cut the cast off!!!

The whole thing took maybe 5 minutes! It was super fast. The doctor said it was good it was fast because some kids arent as good as Noah and they kick and scream.

Then the whole family got to pick out what the brace looks like. He just needs one on his left leg. They are huge football fans. Their favorite team is the Steelers. SO they picked black with gold straps and they will put Steeler stickers on it!! They have to go back to the doctor in a few weeks to pick up the brace. I can't wait!!! I am learning so much here.

Have a great day!!

Gladney Adoption Agency

Yesterday The Beck family took me to Gladney Adoption Agency in Fort Worth Texas. Gladney helps kids that dont have a mom and dad find moms and dads. It also helps ladies that are having babies and want to place those babies for adoption. That means the ladies look through lots of profiles of families who want a baby and then they choose which family to give the baby too. Miss Ashlee said it wasnt because they didnt love their babies but because they loved them so much they wanted the very best for them.

We looked all around at all the really neat facts and posters about how Gladney started. Back a long long long time ago kids that needed a home were put on a train and shipped all over the country. When the train stopped men and women would be there and they would take a kid or two and the ones left would go on to the next stop. At the end if anyone was left the last stop was Fort Worth. When one of the orphan train lines ended in Fort Worth, Rev. Isaac Zachary Taylor Morris and his wife, Belle, began taking the "leftover" children home and actively sought adoptive families for these children. That was the beginning of the Texas Children's Home and Aid Society. Then this woman named Edna Gladney took over and did a lot of great stuff for orphans. When the orphan trains stopped in 1929, some 150,000 children found new homes in the American West.

The Beck's adopted Noah when he was a baby and now they are adopting a big kid! They say that sometime in the future they will have a boy with down syndrome. He may be 5 or 6 years old when they adopt him. They are very excited.

Do you know anyone who was adopted? Were you adopted? I think that is so cool.

Adults can click HERE to check out some really cool facts about Gladney and adoption back in the day. A short sweet read.

Be blessed

Fort Worth Stockyards

Saturday the Beck family took me to the Fort Worth Stockyards. The Stockyards are so much fun and a big part of Texas history. Back in the old days people all over texas would bring their cattle to the Fort Worth Stockyards and they would sell and trade them. Then they would put them on the train that runs right through the stockyards and ship them out to all over the United States.

There is bull riding, horse back rides, petting zoo, rodeo, big longhorn cattle then cowboys corral and walk them down the road. Thats called a cattle drive.

There are lots of shops and restaurants. Texans love fried pickles so they offer them at all the restaurants. People walk around in cowboy boots and cowboy hats. Thats common all over Texas not just the Stockyards but I saw a lot of it there. They even had a sheriff and old cowboys that had a gun fight in the street! It was so loud and fun. It wasn't real guns so we were all safe.

After the stockyards we went on a picnic at Trinity Park. There is a river here called Trinity River and there is a park named after it. Mr Paul went to subway to get subs and Miss Ashlee stopped by the grocery store to get fruit and veggies. Then we threw out a huge blanket and sat and ate and talked and had a great time. There were some people that were broke down and Mr Paul went over to see if he could help while Sarie took the kids in that car drinks. They only spoke Spanish. Mr Paul speaks a little Spanish and Miss Ashlee and the kids are learning Spanish. They say it is very important to learn Spanish if you live in Texas. I learned that Texas is really close to Mexico and so a lot of Mexicans and Latinos come to the United States and settle in Texas.

Since it was such a nice day after lunch we went to another park. There I got to go down the slide and swing and run around and play. It was 75 degrees. Everyone was outside playing. We spent the rest of the afternoon playing and by evening headed back home.

It was a really great day! Here are the pictures from the day.
At Church!
