We have Butterflies!!!

Well it finally happened, the butterflies emerged from their cocoons. We woke up and there was one butterfly in the cage. By the end of the day the first day 2-3 were flying around. Each morning for about 5 days they all slowly came out and were flying around. One morning we actually got to see one coming out! Oh man was that just the coolest thing ever!!!
When butterflies come out they leak out some liquid that is red. It isn't blood. It is meconium. Kinda like their first poop. Ewwwww! But it is kinda cool that they poop red. I think it would be even cooler if they pooped rainbows!
Today we are going to release them. I feel happy because they will get to go and meet other butterflies and travel around and smell flowers and see the sun and be happy. But....I am also a little sad because I like looking at them. Miss Ashlee told us that butterflies only live for about 2-6 weeks depending on a bunch of stuff. Some live up to 8 months but that still isn't a very long time.  They should do everything they can in that little time. Also if we let them go they can go out and make more butterflies.

This has been a great learning experience. I will miss seeing them each morning.  Well I will be right back. We are going to go release them.

They are all out exploring their world. One by one they came out of the ace and flew off. Each one hung around a bit to play in the yard with us. The kids were happy and having fun. It wasn't sad at all. The butterflies got to see the sun, smell the flowers, fly higher and higher in the sky. It was so cool!

Bye Y'all!
