Flat Stella here!
Today I learned about archery. Do you know what that is? Wikipedia defines archery as the art, practice, or skill of propelling arrows with the use of a bow. Kinda like Robin Hood.
Trinity is the oldest daughter in the family of who I am staying with. She is going to be 12 in a couple days. In September last year she started archery. Her scores were so good that she was ranked as top shooter in her division in the state of Texas! Soon she will go and compete in the State Championship. I got to go watch her shoot at a tournament. After I sat down to ask her a few questions.
Stella: What made you choose archery as a sport to try?
Trinity: It looked interested and fun. I really wanted to try it after reading the books about Narnia by CS Lewis. I also read the Hunger Games and saw the Brave movie.
Stella: Tell me how it works. What do you have to do? What do you use?
Trinity: I use a PSE Discovery bow and arrows. Sometimes I wear an arm guard so my arm doesnt get hurt from the arrows. I use a target and aim for the X. You put the arrow in the bow and pull back the string and shoot.
Stella: Is it hard to do?
Trinity: Sometimes. Pulling back can be hard.
Stella: Where do you shoot?
Trinity: Cinnamon Creek Ranch is where I shoot on Mondays and where I practice. I also practice in the back yard. I go to tournaments all over Texas on the weekends.
Stella: Have you won anything?
Trinity: I won a gold and 3 silver metals and I took first in 2 other tournaments I competed in.
Stella: What is your favorite part of archery?
Trinity: Shooting.
Stella: What do you like to shoot?
Trinity: Balloons and fake animals are my favorite. I like to shoot targets too.
Stella: Is archery fun?
Trinity: Yes! Very fun!
Stella: What would you say to someone who was just starting out?
Trinity: Just have fun with it. Its hard at first but it will get easier so dont give up.
Wow! Thanks Trinity! I learned a lot about archery. It looks like a lot of fun. I even got to go watch a tournament. I got my picture taken with the top shooters in Texas. It was really a blast!
Bye ya'll!
