Busy hands

Howdy friends!

This is one busy family I am staying with. So much goings on. Here are some pictures from a couple of those busy days.

One day the family laid out a bunch of bread and meat on the table. Then brown bags on the floor. They even had bags of chips, eggs and fruit. I couldn't understand what they were doing. What do we do when we want to know something? Ask questions! :)

Well it turns out that they were getting ready to feed the homeless. They make food for people who sleep out on the streets and don't have houses. They made sandwiches and bought bottles of water. Then their dad took them down to the homeless. Usually they all go but it was a late night.

Next project.....chairs!

First we needed to get all the old cushions off the chairs and scrub the chairs clean. Trinity did that with and electric screwdriver. Then Cherry washed all the chairs. She did a really good job!

Then we had to get fabric and vinyl to put on the chairs.

Next we had to measure the fabric and vinyl and cover the chairs. Miss Ashlee used a staple gun. Last we needed to screw the chairs back on.

All done!

Plants Update

Remember on the first day of spring the plants we planted?

Here they are now, the ones that survived.

Butterflies

Hey y'all!

Guess what!!!

We got 11 caterpillars in the mail! How weird but cool is that? I didn't know you could get caterpillars in the mail. So we are learning about the life cycle of a caterpillar.

First here is an egg. Then the egg hatches a caterpillar. After that they eat and eat and eat and then make a cocoon also called a pupa or chrysalis. When they come put they become a beautiful butterfly!!

Now here is a picture of then just 5 days later. Wow! They are huge.

Today we did some fun activities that taught us about the life cycle of a butterfly. We all had a lot of fun and learned a lot too.

Our butterfly friends are still caterpillars so check back and I will post again when they make their cocoons. Then after they come out as butterflies I will definitely take pictures to show all of you! I'm so excited I can't wait!

Therapy?

A few kids in this family have therapy. I wasnt sure what that meant so I ask. Miss Ashlee said that Noah and Micah needed therapy to help them continue to grow and learn. Noah has Trisomy 8 and when Flat Stanley was here last year Noah was being fed by a tube.

This year I am happy to report Noah is doing so well his gtube was taken out and he eats everything by mouth. He isnt on any more medicine either. God healed him! He still has Trisomy 8 and always will because its in his genes, not the kind you wear I guess because when I said he could take them off Miss Ashlee said not that kind.Anyways he is doing really well. He just needs OT, occupational therapy and ST, speech therapy. I bet there are kids you know who have these therapies too. 

Noah was eating and I pulled him away so I could show you no tube!

 Thats all that is left now. A tiny reminder that he use to eat with a tube in his tummy.

Opps, LOL. Squeaker wanted a pic with me too. haha

So back to this thing called therapy. Some really nice ladies come into Noahs house with toys. I want some therapy! He gets to play with Mr Potato heads and puzzles and cars and the ipad! Looks like this therapy thing is just playing with toys with a friend. 

I kinda wish I had therapy!!!

The eye doctor!!!!

Howdy y'all!

Guess where I got to go? To the pediatric eye specialist! Micah had an appointment because his eye was red. Good news it is just allergies. Allergies are bad in Texas. While I was there I got to see the Dr. He was really nice and made me and Micah not feel afraid. I even got to try on a pair of glasses. I like glasses.

So, first the doctor shined a light up and down and to each side. We had to follow with our eyes. I got to see all the other equipment too. While we were there Micah had to try to take a test. It isn't a test like we have in school. This test isn't for a grade. The test was to check for color blindness.

Micah did great on the test. So good the doctor still doesn't know if he has color blindness. Next week Micah does have to have surgery on his tear ducts. Those are the little holes in your eyes that make you cry. His aren't working so they need to fix them. After the doctor left we needed to go get drops and his glasses were fixed.

So now I know going to the eye doctor really isn't anything to be scared of. It was fun!
