A Special Family

This morning I found out that the family I am staying with is a "special" family. Have you heard the words "special needs" before? The little boy who's name is Noah has special needs. His mom Miss Ashlee says he has Trisomy 8. That just means some of the stuff we do he can do but in a different way or it is harder for him. It isnt something you and I could catch either it is genetic, which means it happened before he was born and he will always have it.

Today they let me help feed Noah. It was really cool! He doesnt always eat food through his mouth. He has a tube right in his belly that special food goes in. It is called a GTube. I couldnt believe it! It doesnt hurt him or anything. His mom and dad put medicine in his tube too.

Noah also has to put a mask on his face and it blows special air. I got to try on the mask. It was too big for me but I had fun. I thought it would be scary but Noah wasnt scared so that made me not scared.

I am learning so much. They told me that we don't really have to treat Noah any different. He likes some of the same things as me..like riding a four wheeler, playing with trucks, going down a slide, swinging on swings at the playground. He also loves to ride horses, dance, listen to music. He also knows a little sign language and is learning Spanish. We are more alike than different. I think he is going to be my closest friend here in Texas.

Look at all the medicine Noah takes in a day! Wow!

Do you know anyone who has special needs? If you were ever afraid of someone in a wheelchair or who had tubes coming out of them or look or talk different that is okay ,but you should really try to get to know them and then you wont be scared anymore. They aren't scary at all. They all just like you and me! I am so glad I met Noah. I hope I can meet more kids like Noah.

If you have any questions about special needs or Noah Miss Ashlee and Mr Paul, Noah's mom and dad, said they would love to answer them. Just leave them in the comments and they will have a Q & A blog.

Wonder what adventures I will be off to next?! Stay Tuned!!

I have arrived!

Howdy Y'all! That's how they say hi in Texas.

I have arrived safely in Fort Worth, TX. I don't remember much about the trip. It was pretty dark and bumpy, but I was greeted by some nice folks who will show their southern hospitality and let me stay at their house during my visit here.

They said that they will show me around different places here in Texas like the Stockyards, where they used to trade cattle and where they have the rodeo.

The weather today was sunny and about 70 degrees outside.

The picture below is of me with one of the girls that lives here, her name is AJ. That's her little brother Noah in the back.
